Nederlandse Verzetsmannen - Men of the Dutch Resistance 1940-1945
Dutch Resistance during World War II is the collective name for all individuals and groups who offered resistance during World War II to the German occupation of the Netherlands (1940-1945) and the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies (1942-1945) . The resistance was characterized in comparison with other countries occupied by relatively few armed and violent resistance and locally very successful in hiding , which led to a major resistance movement , the LO
The aim of this project is to find as many recognised resistance people as possible, giving people an Honorary place on Geni.com, and to give Geni-users the chance to find new kinship lines to these very brave people .
How many people were just active in the resistance against the Germans is difficult to determine. It is generally assumed that 45,000 people were in the organized resistance, which at the end of the war were still 35,000 survived. They were supported by hundreds of thousands of others and helped. Around 20,000 people were arrested by the Germans during the war years for acts of resistance; many of them did not survive.
