Johann George Eckert, Jr.

Always known as George he was born in Holzhausen, Schwarzwald and was the illegitimate son of Katharina Margarethe BIEDERMANN (she later married Johann Matthias HERBSTREIT) and Johann Georg EKERT. Married to Agatha PFEIFLE in Germany (1863 or '64) they came to Pennsylvania in 1871 and had seven sons and a daughter. Only four sons lived to maturity. George was a stone mason and he carved the fanciful stones in his family plot: see Agatha's Grave for more.
