About Johann "Jean" Stampfler (USA)
Johann L Stampfler(John, Jean) was in the Civil War. He enlisted in the 2nd Delaware Infantry, Co E. He was injured and spent some time at home recuperating and then is reported to have been transferred to the naval branch for a short while. I think he was injured again and spent time again at home but I believe he was back in the fight in the Infantry and died in 1865. He's listed as being buried in City Point Military Cemetery in Virginia but I haven't been able to locate his specific grave. He is "John Stampler" in the military.
He arrived in the US on 5Aug1859 with his wife, Franciska and their two oldest children, Laurentz and Othelia(Odile, Adele). Also on that passenger list is Laurent Stampfler which I just noticed today when I looked at it again. The ship was named "Mrs Frothintham", she sailed from Le Havre, France to New York, NY.
