About Johanna Catharina Parkin
Johanna "Antjie" Parkin (1941 – 2011)
Brief overview:
Antjie (70), was assaulted before being strangled to death on the family farm in Lephalale (Ellisras) in Limpopo on 3rd May 2011. Thomas Tshabalala, who worked on the farm for many years was also murdered.
Her son, Ben, arrived home between 16h00 and 17h00 and went to his bedroom and he smelt something similar to an electrical fire. He thought that the electric blanket had caught on fire, but then he saw the angle grinder next to the bed and the safe had been opened, and the firearm missing. He ran to his mother's house and found her deceased on the carpet of her bedroom.
Antjie's daughter-in-law said that her mother-in-law had been beaten beyond recognition and that there were strangulation marks on her neck. She said that Thomas's body was only found later that night at the bank of the Mogoi river. He had been stabbed and strangled and bludgeoned on his head.
