Owen Historical Society of Berks Co., May 7, 1910"

"O.C. March 26, 1759, petition of Leonard Schwartz, Tulpehocken Township, Jeoman, and Elizabeth, his wife, late Elizabeth Batorff, widow and administratrix of Adam Batorff late of same township, deceased (Jeoman) who died intestate - that the said Adam Batorff, decreased, left issue by the said Elizabeth, seven children - George, now 11 years; Martin, aged 10 years, Peter, aged 9 years; Andrew, aged 8 years, Henry, aged 5 years; and Simon, aged 2 years; and Eva Elizabeth, aged about 6 years. That there is an estate of the value of 85 pounds or there abouts, a considerable portion of which remains after expenses paid. That they are desirous that justice may be done to the said children, and therefore ask the Court to appoint guardians, to settle with the petitioners and when the children are of age to be apprentices to ding them out. The court appointed Martin Bartoff and George Zeller, uncles of said children their guardians."

The above document proves he died before 26 March 1759. We choose 1758 since the court filing was in March 1759. He was likely born around 1719-5 but there is no proven birth date. His father was probably married by 1720.

Wife Elizabeth was Anna Elizabeth Zeller (common to drop first names in both males and females).

Courtesy of K Perry: "Genealogies of Pennsylvania Families from the Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine, Volume III, by Stauber and Zerbe, page 452, that states that Anna Catherine Zeller, born abt 1725 and died 1803, married John Adam Battorf of Tulpehocken abt 1746 and on Nov 12 1758, she married 2nd LEONARD SCHWARTZ of Bethel Township, Berks County Pa. 26 March 1759, Anna Catherine Zeller Battorf SCHWARTZ and her husband LEONHARD SCHWARTZ they came into the Berks County Orphan Court and petitioned for guardianship for the minor children. Martin Battorf and and George Zeller were appointed the children's guardians Leonard Schwartz had children with Anna Elizabeth, but no mention of his wife in his Will 26 Jan 1803, so she must have died before that.

According to DAR, John Adam served as a private under Capt. Michael Wolf's Company, Berks County, Pennsylvania Militia during American Revolution.
