Johannes "Hannes" Jurgens Botha (1942 - 2006)

Hannes (64), a dairy farmer, was executed - shot in the head - while he and three employees were delivering milk in the Embalenhle township near Evander, on 7th September 2006.

Two armed perpetrators robbed Hannes of R800. Ethel Delport, one of Hannes' employees was forced to hand over the blood-stained money with a gun pointed at her head.

Steven Moloi was arrested the following day after the police found the money and the murder weapon in his shack.

  • In July 2015, Pretoria High Court Acting Judge Ephraim Makgoba sentenced Moloi to life and 35 years imprisonment for the murder. The second accused, Elias Senamela was acquitted on all charges.
