Johannes (1842-1911) stated in writings that he "lost" his father at age 3 which would have been 1845 and this has led many trees to state that George Heinrich Riebeling died in 1845. However, "lost" could have simply meant that Johannes lost contact with his father.
His father was never married to his mother.
There was a George Heinrich Reibeling that emigrated to the USA in 1848 and it appears that this is the same person. He became a citizen therre in 1851.
He is listed in the 1860 United States Federal Census, Census & Voter Lists - see further details on his profile.
