Johannes Eldorus Venter (1946 - 2010)
Brief overview:
Johannes (64), a rose farmer from Middelburg, Mpumalanga, was asleep with his wife Rencia (60), in their house when they were attacked at about 1.30am on Friday 22nd January. Johannes was shot in the head, and Rancia in the arm.
The couple's son, Jaco Venter (23), told the police he was awakened by the screams of his parents. "The son told us he heard his father screaming loudly for help and then the blast of a gun followed," Mpumalamga police spokesman Captaion Leonard Hlathi said. "His father suddenly became quiet but his mother went on screaming. Another shot went off and she too became quiet." Hlathi said the man was fatally shot in the head his wife was shot in the left arm. "She survived and was admitted at a hospital for treatment," Hlathi said.
