Johannes "Johan" Jacobus Venter (1940 - 2005)

Brief overview:

Johan (65), former deputy principal of Empangeni High School, and his wife, Elizabeth (Lizzie), a teacher, on 21st July 2005, were in their vehicle at a plant nursery when three armed youths tried to hijack them. One of the gunmen shot Johan in the arm, and although he tried to drive to a clinic close by, his car went out of control.

Paramedics arrived, but he died at the scene.
