John William Adams
Attending the banquet were J.W Adams and W Adams both of the Buffalo in 1836. No other Adams on that voyage, so assuming son John William assumed "William" to avoid confusion with father.

Occupations Cordwainer, Bootmaker and later a Farmer at Edwarstown/St. Mary's area and later still at Bull Creek (near Meadows). John kept a diary of his times in the early colony. This can be seen at > http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/47525788 < A copy of this item re the diary contents is also on file +++ Initially lived at Hindmarsh with Susanna's brother William George and built a two storey house there, on lot 30, from which he continued to carry on his trade as a bootmaker. Lived Buckland SA Lived 22 Cross St. Kingston SA Lived St Mary's, Adelaide, SA Lived Bull Creek near Meadows, SA +++ Religious denomination was Anglican. +++ The family Bible and Prayer book that John William ADAMS had (see newspaper article below) is nowadays in a glass case in Holy Trinity Church, North Terrace Adelaide. It was presented to Holy Trinity church at a sunday service in 1984 (not sure of year) +++ The Advertiser Newspaper Adelaide, SA Thursday 8 November 1945, page 8. Letter to Editor : The Bible and Prayer Book used by the Rev. Charles Beaumont Howard, Colonial Chaplain, on HMS Buffalo during the voyage from England to Holdfast Bay in 1836, was presented by Mr. Howard to Mr. John William Adams, who had assisted with the services held on the ship during the voyage, and also at the first service under the old gum tree at Glenelg after the ship's arrival on December 28, 1836. These two books were left by Mr. J. W. Adams to his second daugh ter, Emma, who was the first child born to Mr. and Mrs. Adams on South Australian soil (January 7, 1838). Emma Adams became Mrs. Bodger. Through her eldest daughter, Emma Clara, who be came Mrs. E. C. Walding, the books came into the possession of a sec ond daughter, Lucy Susannah (Mrs. Taylor), now of Western Australia, who still owns them. In 1936, the books were lent by Mrs. Taylor to her younger sister, Louie Maud (Mrs. Munro), in order that they might be exhibited at SA Centenary celebration, but Mrs. Munro duly returned them to Mrs. Taylor. Mrs. Munro died in 1944. The above information is ex tracted from a letter received by Mr. D. A. Munro, of the School House, Wasleys, son of the late Mrs. Munro, from his aunt, Mrs. Tay lor. This evidence makes clear that the bible above-mentioned cannot be identical with the "Bun yan Bible" now in possession of the Rev. Samuel Forsyth. The Bible and Prayer Book presented by Rev. C. B. Howard to Mr. J. W. Adams have remained consistently in pos session of the latter's descendants. The "Bunyan Bible" was owned in 1801 by one "John Adams," but it seems highly improbable that he is the same as the "John William Adams" who had the other Bible. Who was the "John Adams" that owned the "Bunyan Bible" is not known. I am, Sir, &c., E. S. KIEK +++ Adelaide City land was sold to new arrivals: LOT 1002 which was in Mackinnon Parade, North Adelaide was purchased by Thomas Nicholson and John William Adams. ++++++++++++ Death certificate on file which shows various causes of death. Headstone photo on file ++++++++++++ Whitwarta cemetery is located as follows. On Balaklava to Whitwarta road, 2.5+Kms from 80Kms road sign when leaving Balaklava, there is an intersection which has a white steel rail fence on the right corner. Turn right and proceed down through the creek ford and continue on until a cross road occurs, then turn left until 2-3 Kms down that road the cemetery is on the left. Rifle range is on the right just past cemetery. Alternatively proceed until in Whitwarta...cross the creek bridge and there is a "T" junction on left side. followed immediately by a road to the right. continue for couple of Kms on that dirt road until there is a right fork in road and the Rifle range on your left. The cemetery is on that right fork road about 100 metres under some trees. ++++++++++++
- **Indianna Adams is also buried there but no location in cemetery known unless in same grave as grandparents
