About John Alfred Hawkins
Birth: Jan. 16, 1757 Frederick County Virginia, USA
Death: Jan. 11, 1831 Hammonville Hart County Kentucky, USA
He enlisted in the Virginia Militia of Capt. George Walls when he was 16 years old in 1775. He was thus a revolutionary war veteran. This has been authenticated by the DAR and a monument to him was established at 3 Forks Bacon Creek, Hammonville Kentucky on 7-9-1967 His commanding officers were Lt. George Tingle, Lt. Bowen, Wm Oldhan and Sgt. Cibred Shoup. He fought in ole Augusta Co. Va.
