Sources: The definitive source for George and his conjugal family is ANDERSON. George’s descendancy has also been extensively researched in the primary records by GARDNER and MacDONALD. GARDNER’s work is to be preferred, as far as it goes, because like ANDERSON it provides evidential extracts and specific source citations. However, MacDONALD’s convenient online compilation is much more comprehensive, and appears to be generally sound, although little evidence or argument is offered for its conclusions.

Project member Bill_L Allen has compiled much evidence for the ALLENs of his line down from George1, to George2, to Daniel3, and both Nancy_B and Melava have tapped into an unidentified body of research on the line from George through his son Samuel, although they were unable to provide anything by way of citations to the first several generations of their mutual line which runs through Joseph ALLEN of WindhamCoCT, and thence to VT, NY, and the midwest. I have made an effort to validate what they had and the result is my paper From Joseph Allen of CT to the immigrant George; I have also done some primary records research commissioned by Nancy_B for this line in both CT and VT. 1-George Allen (say 1585 [Somersetshire? One of the founders of Swansea, and thus an early member of the Baptist church.

Probably the son of George Allen/Allin of Sandwich, as he took land in Weymouth first granted to the said George, and surrounded by George's other children:

The land of John Allen [paraphrased]: 1) 5 acres on the plain first granted to: Thomas Applegate bounded on the west by Ralph Allins lot. 2) 2 acres at the :same 3) 8 acres on the wester necke first granted to George Allin. 4) 2 acres and :a quarter twelve rod of meadow in the Wester neck first given to George Allin :[Also listed in X:v1:184] Also listed in X:v1:187 is land of Thomas Ffoster Three :acres in the East ffield first granted to John Allin. [1] According to Williams, John was the son of George Allen, and he was probably born about 1610, a date based his Will, dated 12 March 1689/90, in which he stated that he was 80 years old. (Some online sources say he was born about 1604 or 1605, with no source. Another profile referenced the baptism of a George Allen at Charminster, Dorset, in 1609, but his parents are shown as William and Margaret, so this is apparently not the same person. [2]%29 He was in Weymouth, Massachusetts, by 1643. No record of his immigration has been found. His father, George, George's second wife, and brothers George, William and Mathew, left England for America in March 1634/5. John and his brother Ralph moved to Rehoboth, and John moved again to Swansea. His name shows up in both Swansea and Rehoboth, and exclusively at Swansea after 1669.[3]

John married a woman named Christian in about 1635. Her maiden name is not known. She was still alive in 1689/90 when John wrote his Will. They had at least the following children:[3]

Deborah Allen, m. Joseph Buckland John Allen, m. Bethiah Penniman Daniel Allen, m. Mary Dexter Isaac Allen, m. Mary Bowen; m. Catherine Balcom Elizabeth Allen, m. John Dixey; m. John Fairweather John died on 2 May 1690 at Swansea, Bristol, Massachusetts[4] or possibly 3 May 1690 at Swansea, Bristol, Massachusetts.[5]

His Will was signed on 12 March 1689/90 and proved on 27 May 1690. In it he mentions:[3][6]

Eldest son John Son Isaac Son Daniel Mother of John and Daniel Beloved wife Christian (probably same as mother of John and Daniel) Child Deborah Buckland Grandchildren John, Samuel and Elizabeth, children of Daniel Grandchild Deborah Cole Bethiah, wife of son John Sources
