About John Alling

John Alling, son of Capt. Jonathan Alling and Sarah Sackett, was born in New Haven, New Haven Co., Connecticut on Aug. 30, 1714. He married, on Feb. 22, 1737, wih ABIAH HITCHCOCK, dau. of John Hitchcock and Abiah Bassett. She was born Aug. 6, 1715. He died Mar. 16, 1761 in Allingtown, New Haven Co., Connecticut and is buried at Grove Street Cemetery, New Haven Co., Connecticut. After his death, Abiah remarried with MATTHEW GILBARD. She died May 15, 1783 and is buried at Grove Street Cemetery.

His inscription: In Memory of Mr. John Alling who died March the 16th, 1761 in ye 47th year of his age.

Children were: Stephen (1738-1795) John (1743-1807), Abiah (1750-1774, m. Joseph Hull), and Thankful (1755-1831).
