About John Alvin Osterberg
Occupation and retirement
John and Gudrun are both retired. John worked as planner-foreman for the Seaboard Lumber Company and retired after 31 years. Gudrun retired from Guaranty National Bank in Seattle and they are now enjoying their retirement in Seattle.
John & Gudrun were married at the home of her parents, Mr & Mrs Hans Winther of Grassland Township. They farmed the home place and Edwin's through 1931. They then purchased the Smith farm 1/2 mile north of Greene on the Mouse River. They lived there until 1936, when they were forced to move because of the dam being built to flood the area to make Lake Darling and create a wildlife refuge. Their daughter, Marvel, was born there in 1933. In the spring of 1936 we purchased the Schroeder place and farmed there until 1937, when we moved to Seattle.
