JOHN A. ANHALT

John A. Anhalt, 86, of 53 Lincoln St., Chilton, died at his home Monday noon, Jan. 16, 1961. He became ill early that morning. Born in the Town of Eaton, Manitowoc Co., Wisconsin, Aug. 9, 1874, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Anhalt. He was foreman at the Chilton Carnation milk plant for over 30 years.

Following his retirement he worked as a janitor at St. Mary's Catholic Church for 13 years. He retired from that position in 1954. He was a member of the Calumet Council Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

On Nov. 20,1895, he married Elizabeth Dessloch at St. Gregory's Catholic Church at St. Nazianz, Wis. She died July 3, 1951.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Olive) Mayer of Chilton; a brother, Clemens of Kiel, a sister, Mrs. Peter Hensen of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. A son, four brothers and a sister also preceded him in death.

Services will be held in Chilton at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home followed by a requiem high mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Henry Schmitt, pastor, will be the celebrant and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. A parish vigil will be held there at 8 p.m. Wednesday followed at 8:30 by a Knights of Columbus vigil.
