John Arscott [Convict "Charlotte" "Scarborough" 1788]

John ARSCOTT (aka John ASCOTT, William ARSCOTT) was born c1767 England, baptised on 22/3/1767 at Truro, Cornwall (son of Samuel ARSCOTT and Mary BARNES)

John was convicted of breaking and entering and sentenced to 7 years transportation. He was initially sent on "Charlotte" but arrived in Sydney Cove on 26/1/1788 on "Scarborough".

John married Catherine PRIOR on 8/12/1792 in Port Jackson and they had the following children

• John Matthew PRIOR born enroute in 1887 (died 18/3/1788)

In March 1790, John was sent to Norfolk Island on "Sirius"

John returned to Sydney on "Supply" on 30/5/1791.

John crewed on the "Atlantic" to Calcutta from 26/10/1791 to June 1792

John and Catherine left the colony on "Shah Hormuzear" on 24/4/1793
