OBITUARY for JOHN BAILOR
At 7:15 o'clock on Friday morning of last week [26 MAR 1897], Mr. JOHN BAILOR, one of our venerable citizens departed this life, after a prolonged illness, of infirmities incident to advanced age being 81 years, 3 months and 1 day old. The deceased has resided in Port Royal and vicinity for the past quarter of a century. Many years ago while pursuing his occupation, that of a carpenter, he fell off a barn and sustained serious injuries, and even afterward walked lame.
He was the father of 17 children, 15 of whom are living and all were present at the funeral of their aged parent except two sons and one daughter.
The funeral took place from the Lutheran Church at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon and the solemn services were conducted by Rev. H. S. Gilbert, the large church being filled to overflowing with relatives and sympathizing friends. He also leaves a widow and one brother, Joseph Bailor, who resides near Buffalo Mills, Perry Count.
