John Beads was born in 1847. He Deceased in 1869. He was son of John BEADS and Catherine ROBILLARD.
A Scotsman. Perhaps Metis. Rumoured in Henderson family to have been a rancher from Montana. Note variation in spelling of last name, explained below.
The most reliable source for Metis genealogical information is: D.N. Sprague and R.P. Frye, "The Genealogy of the First Metis Nation: The Development and Dispersal of the Red River Settlement 1820-1900 (hereafter "Sprague and Frye").
Each male person noted in the compilation of Sprague and Frye is identified by a number (Hereafter "SF#")
Sprague and Frye record the family name as "Beads". It is not known if there was an error in the sources to which Sprague and Frye referred or whether the name was purposely changed by a descendant. For the purposes of this author's compilation, the Sprague and Frye spelling is used for the generation of John Beads, siblings and ancestors, while "Beeds" is used for descendants.
Eileen Griffiths reported that the book, "A Tapestry of Time: A History of Spiritwood, Mildred and Norbury Districts, stated that "Alisa Beeds" (Eileen pronounced Eliza) husband was "John".
One source-unknown report of the date of death for John Beads is 1916. His middle name is also unconfirmed as at Nov, 2002.
His mother, Catherine (nee) Robillard passed away when John was about 5 years of age.
