About John Belford Milam
GEDCOM Note
John Belfield Milam fought as a private in the war of 1812 and was at the Battle of New Orleans. He was in the company of Captain Samuel Caruthers and in the second regiment of Tennessee Militia, commanded by Colonel John Cock and Lt. Col. Robert Jarman. He was drafted about November 1, 1814 for six months and honorably discharged at Nashville about May 13, 1815.
John was a blacksmith, wood workman and a farmer. He was described as an "old time Democrat".
John and Levica Louise Hamby Milam are both buried in the Milam Cemetery, Centerville, Tennessee.
