Biography

John Brimblecomb, fisherman, lived in Marblehead from 1661 until his death in 1678. He was born circa 1623 based on the marriage dates of his three children. Tabitha was wife of John Brimblecomb and administrator of his estate on 29 Nov 1678 (Will dated 11 May 1678). They lived in a house on a lot that originally belonged to John Legg by 1661. The lot was passed down to their son Philip. They had three children: Philip (m Sarah Fluent and an unknown first wife), Richard (daughter married Edward Holman) and Mary (m Andrew Tucker).[1] [2] [3] [4][5]

In 1677 juvenile problems came to the attention of the town and the town meeting action ordered Ensign Norman and John Brimblecombe “to looke after the youth and boyes on the Lord’s Dayes that they behave themselves well and orderly.” Donald A. Doliber, HISTORICAL OUTLINE OF THE MARBLEHEAD POLICE DEPARTMENT

Possibly the baptismal name was really the feminine form 'Richarda;' but the copies of deeds and the notary's spelling in the will are plain 'Richard.'" Marblehead Genealogy Project
