John Campbell (14), son of Settler Leader, Maj. Gen. Charles Colin Campbell, was part of his father's party of 50 people, 20 of whom sailed on the Salisbury. He was accompanied by his Mother and 8 siblings.

Party originated from Argyll, Scotland.

Departed The Downs, Deal, Kent, England, on 14 Aug 1821. Arrived Table Bay, Cape Town on 8 December 1821. Final Port - Algoa Bay, Port Elizabeth on 1 January 1822

CAMPBELL, Charles (General); p. Gen. CAMPBELL's; s. Salisbury; w. Narre; f. Lawrence, John, Fredrick, William, Edward, Harriet, Catherine; r. Individual settler. The son John was Protector of Slaves at Graaff-Reinet and later Civil Commissioner and Resident Magistrate at Cape Town. The son Frederick commanded a troop in the war against the Zulu chief Todo in 1844, and commanded a squadron against Moshesh in 1852.
