John Albert Victor Cant

Birth registered in Q3 1894 in Camberwell.

1911 is in Wallingford as a horseman on farm, age 16, with his family of four siblings. He is the eldest.

Is a Lance Corporal, 10th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, soldier number 15605, previously plumber, at the time of marriage in 1915. Later joined the East Surrey Regiment. Rose to be a Second Lieutenant.
The wedding certificate says he was "Late of the Gables, Landsdown Road, Cheltenham, but now residing at Sutton Veny". His father is John Cant, aged 51, an army pensioner (farm labourer).

1939 is a works manager for artificial horn (casing) at Marathon, High Street, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire.

At some point either owned or managed a button factory in Stroud. Retired to run a Post Office and stores outside Stroud in Rodborough leaving that ultimately to live in Cirencester until he died in 1973 in the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford.

Probate for death date in 1973. Last address was Siddington near Cirencester.
