About John Roton Carrouth

Johnny R. Carrouth, age 94, one of Yell County's oldest citizens, died at the Yell County Hospital December 12, 1956. He was a retired farmer and was born in Dutch Creek Valley on Oct 15, 1862. He was married in 1882 to Miss Emma Catherine Jordon. To this union were born eight children, three of whom survive. Mrs. Carrouth died in June 1921. In November 1921 he was married to Mrs. Fannie Pence and to this union three children were born, two of whom survive.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Carrouth; one son, Lonnie of Little Rock; four daughters, Mrs. Bettie Thacker and Mrs. Ollie Herring of Danville, Mrs. Ruby Jewel Sikes of Okla. City and Mrs. Helen Garner of Los Angeles; three stepchildren, Gilbert Pence, Elmer Pence and Mrs. Alma Taylor, all of Norman, Okla.; 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
