John Casebolt (c1746-1820/7). He must have been 21 before he signed the document of sale for Pleasant Valley in 1767.

He settled at the mouth of Line Fork (present day boundary of Perry ahd Letcher Counties) at a very early date. He had a step-daughter, Polly Davis, who when only 14 years old used to go to Turkey Cove, Virginia alone for flour. Her mother's sister, Susan (Helvey) Hobbs, wife of Absalom Hobbs, lived in or near Turkey Cove and she likely stayed with them. John Casebolt and his "wife" lived just north of Turkey Cove in the adjoining Powell Valley. The eastern section of Lee County was called "Turkey Cove" by the early settlers.

In 1810 he was charged by his oldest son for living in adultery with Elizabeth Davis.

He died before 1827 when his "widow" Elizabeth appears as head of household on the Lee County, Virginia Personal Property Tax List.
