When Jean Charles Joseph Bottineau Sr. was born on 1 May 1776, in Berthier en Haut, Berthier, Quebec, Canada, his father, Pierre Bautinau, was 46 and his mother, Angélique Fournaise Laboucanne, was 33. He married Marie Techomegood Assiniboine in 1797, in Fort Garry, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 4 daughters. In 1787, at the age of 39, his occupation is listed as employed by the hudson’s bay co. (attached source). He died in 1824, in East Grand Forks, Polk, Minnesota, United States, at the age of 48.
