About Emilie Marie Desjarlais
Techomegood and Macheqiuayaince were sisters. When Techomegood died in 1813, Margaret took all of her children into her care and adopted them as she became the wife of Charles Bottineau who had previously been married to Techomegood Marie.
Indian Name Oske-ni-kih-kaw (Otshihkan) as reported by tribal lawyer J.B. Bottineau, daughter of Techomegood with husband Charles Bottineau. Margaret Songabt, Sister of Chief Red Bear carried also the Chippewa name Machequayaince which means the same as the Assiniboine name Techomegood. A debate has existed if these are two sisters or the same woman, however in 1910 this was resolved by J.B Bottineau who recorded the progenitor history that they are indeed the same person who due to trading activities in the HBC and Northwest Trading company maintained numerous names, all with the same meaning amongst the Assiniboine, Cree, and Chippewa communities, also in relation to the Iron Confederacy Alliance. The indigenous communities of the Pembina Chippewa Tribal Nation, Ojibwe of Red Lake Nation, Lake of the Woods, and Assiniboine of the Anishinabewaki have declared Techomegood, Utinawassis, and Margaret Sogab as sisters each named "Star Woman" in their own language.
