About John Craven Clark, Sr.
He was a grandson of Captain Christopher and Penelope Clark of Hanover and Louisa Counties, son of Micajah and Judith Adams Clark of Albemarle County and was a first cousin of John Lynch, founder of Lynchburg, VA.
John Clark was a Captain in the Revolutionary War, was a Justice of Campbell County, was one of the original Trustees of the City of Lynchburg and was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1785 to 1793.
He served as Sheriff of Campbell County from 1818 until he died on April 2, 1819.
