John Cowper (son of Robert living in 1418?) of Strode in the parish of Slingfeld in the county of Suſſex , in the 6th year of King Edward IV [5 Jun 1465 in Ewhurst] married Joan, daughter and heir of John Stanbridge of Strode, aforesaid; ...

Their known children were John Cowper and Thomas Cowper.

Joan Stanbridge is the daughter of John Stanbridge.1 She married, secondly, John Cowper.1 She married, firstly, Stephen Brode.1 She married, thirdly, Robert Aucher.1

This John resembles John Cooper, of Arlesey in Bedfordshire (another reported husband of this John's wife). Are they supposed to be the same person? John Albert Rigali has seen various unproven allegations that the Cowper family of Sussex and the Cooper family of Bedfordshire are connected. Further research is warranted.
