In 1912 John George went to George Knight's family to see if John Spencer could go to the new school in Clones. The family was held in high esteem: aristocrats in the area. When the tragedy happened, the whole area went quiet. Folk still haven't talked about it. (Sept. 2022) It was like a shared sense of guilt that this could happen in their town.

Crozier John George of Gortra Newtownbutler County Fermanagh farmer died 29 November 1932 after 6 months of illness. Probate Londonderry 21 June to Jessie Florence Crozier the widow. Effects £161 5s. 10d.A W/A D.B.N. D.R. 3.11.69. Record at PRONI we found said he died a farmer, 29/11/32, leaving an unadministered estate of 4000 Pounds. We did not find a will for Jessie or John George Jnr. His estate was not wound up until 37 years after his death. The abstract is annotated DBN which means the executor was unable to undertake his/her duties, either through incapacity or some other factor and the estate remained administered for that very lengthy period. Possibly this oversight only came to light after Jessie’s own death.
