Biography

Barbara Davis was born to John Davis and Mary Hutsell circa 1774 in Virginia. This Davis family was Lutheran of German descent, and the original surname was something that sounded close to Davis when said in German to English scribes. [1]

John Davis Sr. born about 1737. Death: about 1796, Wythe County, VA. Wife Mary.

1796 - May 18: John Davis wrote a will that was proven Sep. 14, 1797. The first name of his wife was Mary.

He named as sons:

  1. Joseph Davis, b. 1763 and married Margaret Hays.
  2. John Davis, Jr., They divorced in 01/09/1798, but could have been separated long before that. Unsure of who his wife was. Some sources say Elizabeth, others say Mary.
  3. George Davis, m.Leah (unk) - b. 1762 moved to Grayson Co. Kentucky. George Davis married Mary Courtee.
  4. Jacob Davis, d.1826 and was buried in the old St. John's Church yard. He m.Margaret (unk)
  5. Abram Davis (deceased). b. 1795. Wythe County Virginia United States married Mary Polly Smith Finn.

  2. Eve, born 1753, m. Ludwig Lewis Hutsell
