Biography
John Doggett was born about 1642, perhaps in Concord, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the son of Thomas Doggett.[1]
He married first, Persis Sprague in 1673 in Hingham, the daughter of William and Milicent (Eames) Sprague of Hingham. Persis was born on 12 November 1643 in Hingham and died in 1684 in Marshfield.[1]
He married secondly Mehitabel Truant on 03 September 1691 in Marshfield, the daughter of Maurice and Jane Truant of Duxbury.[1]
John married, as his third wife, Rebecca Brown on 22 June 1697 in Newbury. Rebecca was the widow of Isaac Brown of Newbury,[2] and the daughter of John and Eleanor (Emery) Bailey born Salisbury on 24 November 1691.[3] Rebecca died in Newbury on 25 August 1731 in her 91st year.[1][4]
John Dogget of Marshfield, husbandman, wrote his will (dated 01 January 1716, proved 02 July 1718) in which he named his wife Rebeckah Dogget providing her maintenance as his widow; son Thomas Dogget to have land which "I had of my father and that which I purchased of my uncle Justice Eames", as well as other lands, and mentioned land held in partnership with his brother Samuel Dogget; daughter Hannah White two cows and a feather bed; grandson John Dogget his rights in common lands in Marshfield; grandson Thomas Dogget two cows; granddaughters Peirsis Dogget, Sarah Dogget and Experience Dogget two sheep each. Son Thomas to be executor.[5] His estate was inventoried on 02 July 1718 and sworn to by his son Thomas.[6]
