John’s life began on April 21, 1925 in Douglass, KS; the son of Walter F. and Myrtle P. (Vint) Kenney.
He was a graduate of Douglass High School. John served his country in the United States Army Air corps during World War II.
He retired after 32 years from the El Dorado refinery as a lab technician.
John was a member of the Patmos Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and Midian Shrine in Wichita, American Legion, the VFW and First Christian Church in El Dorado.
John is survived by his daughter Yvonne (David Kimball) Kenney of Augusta, grandson’s Mark Kenney of El Dorado, Devin Schwindt of Wichita and Josh (Mary) Truskett of Tulsa, granddaughter Shelly Sloat of Tulsa, eight great grandchildren and a brother Charles Wilson of Hays, KS.
John passed away on Friday October 21, 2016 at Lakepoint of El Dorado.
He is preceded in death by his parents; spouse Leona, and brother William Wilson.
His family will gather with friends on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the Kirby Morris Funeral Home where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. led by Pastor Stan Seymour.
John will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Midian Shrine or Planes of Mercy.
