John Drummond was the son of Patrick Drummond and Margaret Spittle .[1] Based on the date of his apprenticeship, John Drummond may have been born around 1615.

John Drummond, son of Patrick Drummond was apprenticed to John Mudie, Writer to the Signet, for a period of three years from 5 December 1629.[2]

John Drummond married Jean Campbell before 12 Dec 1642[3]

In 1665/1666 John's uncle Alexander Spittle entailed the lands of Blairlogie in Perthshire (now in Stirlingshire), the lands of Seafield of Letham in barony of Fordell, lands of Mains (Maynes) of Beath called Leuchatsbeath and lands of Knoksudderon (Knoksudrone) in barony of Beath in sheriffdom of Fifeto him.[4]

Five years later, on his son Alexander's marriage, John Drummond disponed the lands of Leuchat and other property to Alexander which Alexander then disponed to his future wife. [5]

John Drummond and Jean Campbell had at least three children baptised in Edinburgh:

  1. Adam Drummond (bap 6 May 1649)[6]
  2. Alexander Drummond (bap 28 Apr 1650)[7]
  3. William Drummond (bap 30 Oct 1659)[8]
