- Died 30 Sept 1584.
- His will of 15 Aug 1584 directed his burial in Ashby Church, "near unto the place where John Cope, knight, is buried," adding "And although I doe not allow of pomp in burials, yet for some reasonable considerations I will that the stone that I have already prepared shall be layede upon my grave, and my arms and my wyve's graven in brasse thereupon."

Dryden married Elizabeth, dau. of Sir John Cope.<ref name=cokayne /><ref name=hop /> They are the parents of:* Sir Erasmus, Bt. of Canons Ashby (b. 20 Dec 1553 - d. 22 May 1632; bur. Canons Ashby).<ref name=cokayne /><ref name=hop />:::m. (in or bef. 1580) Frances (d. 16 Feb. 1631; bur. Canons Ashby),younger dau. of William Wilkes of Hodnell, co. Warws. & co-h. of her bros.
