There is contradicting information about this information. The research of Jerry R Ennis indicates that JOHN ENNIS was probably born in England or Ireland about 1695-1700. He arrived in this country in about 1715 as an indentured servant to a family in EssexCounty, Virginia.

In about 1735 JOHN bought 200 acres on the JACOB STOVER tract near present day Elkton, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley (then part ofOrange County, Virginia). In about 1738 they moved southeast back across the mountains to near Parker mountain in the present day Greene County(then still part of Orange County). In 1741 they moved about 20 miles south to then Louisa County on Rocky Creek a few miles northwest of present day Charlottesville. JOHN wrote his Will in 1754 and it was probated in May 1762. His son, JAMES, was the executor and his mother,ELIZABETH, was still alive. (Jerry R. Ennis).
