discussion
Some confusion in the family tree here. Most dates list him as being born 8/14/1659. There is one source that lists him as being born in 1675.
Once again, most sources list his parents as William and Sarah Ford nee Dingley. Some sources list his father as James Ford with an unknown mother. If the 1659 date is correct, then his father could not have been James because he was born in 1650 and would have been about 9 when John Foord was born. If John Foord was born on the later date, then it is possible.
Further research indicates that John Foord and Elizabeth Freeman were common names in colonial America as there seem to have been two couples with the name. The problem is, different tree list different combination of parents and birthplaces that I'm not sure if I can say anything for certain after this point. So, anything from here on out is speculative. I'm going with the version I find to be the most common.
He should not be confused with John Ford of Smuttynose. Various sources - including some profiles in FamilySearch's Ancestral File (see links below) seem to confuse John of Smuttynose as a son of Deacon William Ford by Sarah Dingley; this John is actually that son.
