John Gavin, Convict "Lord Sidmouth" 1821

John GAVIN aka GAVAN was born c1785 Waterford, Ireland (son of Andrew GAVIN and Elizabeth ?)

John married Catherine HOGAN in 1811 in Ireland and they had the following children

• 1816 John
• 1818 James
• 1820 Michael
• 1821 Andrew

John was convicted and sentenced to transportation for life. He arrived in Sydney Cove in 1821 on "Lord Sidmouth" His wife and children followed him arriving in 1833 (and one son in 1838)

After his wife arrived in Australia, John and Catherine had the following children

• 1835 Catherine
• 1837 Thomas

John died 11/3/1842 Richmond, NSW
