Census data indicates he was born December 1830, and not 1837 as his death certificate indicates. The newspaper give his age as 75 years, or born abt. 1834.

John L. Geib, a native of Lancaster County, died of old age and disability at his home 318 N. 6th St. at 12:45 PM today. He had been ailing three years and was bedfast four months. Deceased was a member of the firm of Saul & Geib which erected the first ice manufacturing machine in Reading. The plant was located at 11th and Bern Streets. Deceased was engaged in this business seven years. Later he manufactured asbestos packing

Deceased was born at Rothsville, Lancaster County. His age was 75 years. He leaves a widow Eva( nee Miller) and a sister Mrs. Margaret Baker of Neffsville, Lancaster County. Deceased was a member of the Knights of Pythias of Lititz and the Red Men of this city. He attended the Evangelical Church.
