John Goodrich, eldest surviving s. of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin, b. May 20, 1653 at Wethersfield, Conn. He d. Sept. 5, 1730, Æ 78. He m. on Mar. 28, 1678 at Charlestown, Mass. (by Rev. Mr. Danforth), Rebecca Allen, dau. of Capt. John and Sarah Allen. She was b. at Charlestown in Feb. 1659/60. She was living on Sept. 6, 1716, but the date of her subsequent death is unknown.

Case in "The Goodrich Family" (1889) and Stiles in his "Ancient Wethersfield" (1900) both claim that John was born at Wethersfield May 20, 1653, although Stiles gives his entry as "20 May [* * 1652-Weth. Rec.] 1653." However, there is no birth entry for John in Barbour's printed vital records of Wethersfield. Case further claims that John died at Wethersfield Sept. 5, 1730 whereas Stiles claims he died "circa 1737, ae. 84." No probate record can be found; both John and wife Rebecca are assumed to have been interred at Wethersfield with no surviving gravestones.

John Goodrich and Rebecca Allen had ten children, all undoubtedly b. at Wethersfield. However, only eight have a birth entry in the printed vital records of Wethersfield:

• i. Sarah Goodrich, b. Apr. 10, 1679, d. Oct 7, 1719 at Wethersfield, Æ 41; m. 1) Oct. 26, 1699 at Wethersfield, Abraham Kilborn, s. of Sgt. John Kilborn & Sarah Bronson, who d. Mar. 9, 1712/3 at Wethersfield; m. 2) Oct. 15, 1718 at Wethersfield, Thomas Boardman, s. of Isaac Boardman & Abiah Kimberly. He was b. Nov. 14, 1671 at Wethersfield.

• ii. Rebecca Goodrich, b. Nov. 24, 1680, d. Apr. 10, 1703, Æ 22; m. Dec. 28, 1699 at Wethersfield, Sgt. David Wright, s. of Ens. Samuel Wright & Mary Butler, by whom she had two children before her early death. He m. 2) June 8, 1710 at Wethersfield, Mary Belden {q.v., Belding}.

• iii. Mary Goodrich, b. Sept. 4, 1682, d. at Wethersfield Feb. 5, 1729/30, Æ 48; m. Oct. 30, 1703 at Wethersfield, Capt. Thomas Curtis, s. of Joseph Curtis & Mercy Deming, b. Sept. 15, 1670 at Wethersfield. He d. Jan. 20, 1752, Æ 82.

• iv. Samuel Goodrich, b. May 24, 1684; d. unmarried May 7, 1706 at Wethersfield, Æ 22.

• v. Abigail Goodrich, b. Apr. 27, 1686; m. Apr. 25, 1706 at Wethersfield, David Curtis, s. Joseph Curtis & Mercy Deming, b. Nov. 29, 1682 at Wethersfield.

• vi. John Goodrich, b. June 9, 1688; m. June 5, 1712 at Wethersfield, Mary Tillotson of Saybrook, Conn., dau. of John, who d. on May 31, 1740. He purportedly m. 2) Aug. 11, 1743 at Wethersfield (by Rev. D. Russell), Anne Riley, who d. at Wethersfield after 1748.

• vii. Sybil Goodrich, b. circa 1688-9, d. in 1785 at Wintonbury Parish (now Bloomfield, Conn.), "Aged" 97; m. Nov. 18, 1718 at Wethersfield, Bezaleel Latimer, s. of Sgt. John Latimer & Mary Robinson, b. Oct. 28, 1689 at Wethersfield. He d. testate at Wethersfield betw. May 10 and June 22, 1745, Æ 56.

• viii. Allen Goodrich, b. Nov. 13, 1690, d. Apr. 8, 1764 at Farmington, Conn., Æ 74; m. 1) Dec. 29, 1709 at Wethersfield, his cousin Elizabeth Goodrich, dau. of Col. David Goodrich & Hannah Wright, b. Nov. 19, 1691 at Wethersfield. She d. at Farmington, Conn. Aug. 25, 1726, Æ 35; m. 2) Dec. 10, 1729 at Farmington, Hannah Seymour, dau. of Samuel Seymour & Hannah North, b. at Farmington Mar. 28, 1707.

• ix. Anne Goodrich, b. Sept. 1, 1692; no further record.

• x. Jacob Goodrich, b. Nov. 27, 1694 per Case with no confirming birth entry at Wethersfield. He d. intestate in November 1745 in the southern portion of Windsor, Conn., in that portion then in Wintonbury Parish (now Bloomfield, Conn.), but was bur. at Wethersfield; m. Sept. 12, 1717 at Hartford, Conn., Benedicta Goodwin, dau. of Nathaniel Goodwin & Mehitable Porter, bapt. Feb. 25, 1692/3 at Hartford, Conn. She d. May 11, 1746. Seven children of the family.
