John Harold Geroski, Sr.

John Harold Geroski, 82, of Oakland, Md., died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the Garrett Memorial Hospital.

Born April 4, 1925, in Kempton, Md., he was a son of the late Jovo Durasevic (Geroski) and Ida B. Wilson. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Francis Geroski and Ray Geroski; one sister, Betty Pendleton; one son, Michael Allen Geroski; and one grandson, Mark Ashley Cannon.

Mr. Geroski retired from Buffalo Coal (Carl Del Signore) in 1983. He was the former owner-builder of the Genus Center Garrett Hwy., in Oakland, Md. He was a 50-year member of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America Lodge #47 in Pittsburgh, Pa.; charter member of the Oakland Elks, and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Davis, W.Va.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty (Lewis) Geroski of Oakland, Md. He was the loving father of one son, John H. Geroski Jr. of Hedgesville; three daughters, Sharon Porter of Mountain Lake Park, Md., Harriett Cannon of Crellin, Md., Cynthia Sundstrom of Fayetteville. Also surviving is one brother, Carl Jurie of Pueblo, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Erik Geroski of Oakland, Md., Beth Ann Hall of Winchester, Va., Caroline Evans of Oakland, Md., Stacy Geroski of Oakland, Md., Joshua Geroski of Oakland, Md., Jessica Geroski of Fredericksburg, Va., and Emily Sundstrom of Fayetteville; five great-grandchildren, Vivian Geroski, Kristen Geroski, Jacob Cannon, Jonathon Evans and Mara Evans, all of Oakland, Md.

The family received friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, Md., on Tuesday, June 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
