John Harrison Jr. was born February 26, 1721 in Oyster Bay, Nassau Co. New York. The son of John Harrison Sr. (1691-1771) and Phoebe ?Smith? (1686-1783)

John moved with his family to Augusta Co. Virginia (Present day Rockingham Co. Virginia). John was granted a patent for a tract of land on a "branch of the James River." 12 Feb 1742 366 acres on Luney's Mill Creek.
