About John Hastings, of Watertown
Not the same as John Hastings, of Weston or as John Hastings, of Lunenberg
2. JOHN, son of NATHANIEL and MARY (NEVINSON) HASTINGS, baptized, as above, 1698, probably then some eight years old; married, 1714, MARY and settled in Watertown, near the old burying-ground. His estate, containing 8 acres, he bought of Richard Beers and others, February 27, 1719. This he exchanged with Samuel Stratton, and afterwards resided in the eastern or lower part of Watertown, near the north-east corner of Mount Auburn. In 1757, a strip of land, about one half of a mile in width, on the east side of Watertown, was annexed to Cambridge, and his homestead was thus brought within the limits of Cambridge.
