Also Isaac Brooks appointed guardian to Aaron Headen he giving bond with Robert Mash his security in L2000.

PROBATE RECORDS: John received the plantation house and land, also a desk and his father's silver buckles in his father's Will in 1777. The Will, says that John is under the age of 21 years.

COURT RECORDS: Chatham County, North Carolina 1785-1792, book #975.659P2L,Vol.3 page #155 John Headen called to do jury duty. Feb 1792

CENSUS RECORDS: 1790 Chatham County, North Carolina page #86 John has just himself and one female living with him. Is it his wife or his mother??? Did he have any children???

CENSUS RECORDS: 1800 Chatham County, North Carolina page #164 John has 2 males 10-16, 2 males 16-26, 1 female 16-26, then he and his wife?? are in the 26-45 age group. He also has 9 slaves. Who are all these children?? He did not have any listed in 1790

PROBATE RECORDS: Chatham County, North Carolina SLFHL film #1548328 John wrote his WILL on 22 March 1804. He mentions his brother William Headen, sister Susannah widow of William Dark, and sister Sarah wife of John Harris. His wife Phebe apparently left him a few years before and now he wants her to come back to him. If she will he will give her one third of his estate and 10 lbs. money. He forgives her for leaving him. He will not acknowledge her son Thomas Jones that she had by Brantley Jones while she was separated from him. Phebe said the baby Thomas was his but he denied it. John promises to not be mean to her anymore if she will only come back to him. She apparently came back, because a year are so later she is trying to get the courts to recognize Thomas as a Headen. He does not mention any of the children that were in the census records. His WILL, was probated at the November term of court in 1805.

I, John Headen, of Chatham County and state of North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory do, this 22th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four, make and publish this, my last will and testament in manner following that is to say--Item that all of my debts and funeral charges may be punctually and specially paid by my executors whome I shall hereafter appoint--Item that my most ungreatful wife Phebe Headen may have one third part of the land I way have rights to at the time of my decease. During her natural life & ten pounds in money....as to bed and such other things as widows are customed to have she took with her when she eloped from me and the negro wench she bought I had fourteen year in my possession--Item to the child she brought which she says Brantley Jones is the father of for sertain I no it is none of mine, though I dont no what she named it though I have heard Thomas....Item five pounds, if it shoud (or "its shouts") ever make a man mean enough to call for it. Item--I give and bequeath all the reminder of my estate both rail and personal to be equally divided in three shears that is to say to my brother William Headen and my two sisters Susanah Dark, widow of William Dark decd. & Sarah wife of John Harris. Item--also the dower land at my wifes decease. My brother and sisters above mentioned in the maner as the rest of my estate and I hereby make and ordain my above minsioned brother William Headen....John Harris & Josiah Dark my lawful executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said John Headen have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above writen /s/ John Headen Wit: Micajah McGee, Josiah Martin I revoke every instrument of this kind if any should offer for I never had any. (On a separate added page:) "Wife Phebe Headen...I wish you to come home and stay with me and be ashamed what was past--if you will not do so come and see me and will talk matter over in anther manner to what you expect and not let anything that has happened as I am detimined that shall be in obivion with me for in the situation I am in wnat do me send word by McEastes or come with him and I am detrmined not lay hands on you in bad youmers nor good if cannot talk with you I can turn round.
