About John Wesley Hitch
GEDCOM Note
!He and Nancy are buried just behind and a little to the left of the Old Bethel M. E. Church which is located just outside of Bantam. There is a War of 1812 marker next to his grave, and I found a record of his service (originally filed under Hich) as a private in the 4th Regt. of Mountjoys Mounted Kentucky Volunteers.
!To get to the cemetery and church, take Bantam Rd. off of highway 125 and then turn north onto East Fork State (Elk Lick) Rd. The church and cemetery are on the right about 1/2 mile from Bantam.
!He also purchased land from the same survey as his father did.
!He died on a Sunday morning at the home of his son James at Mt. Holly (one source says Mt. Pleasant) at the age of 82. He was a soldier in the War of 1812. (obit.)
!Death date - DPL 929.37717 W624c, "Clermont County Ohio Deaths, 1856 - 1908", A. M. Whitt. p. 93 and cemetery marker.
