John Holloway, born in North Carolina, served in the Revolutionary War(DAR). He moved on to Georgia with his brother William, where they farmed and lived a good life. The family were devout Quakers, originally from England. John and his wife Ann Griffin Holloway raised eight children: John, William, Elizabeth, James, Mickleberry, Nancy, Jeremiah, and Thomas. The Metter GA chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored John's service for this country with a ceremony on May 29, 1994 at Lake Church Cemetery in what is now Candler county GA, formally Bulloch county GA.
