"CHARLES HUBBARD. John Hubbard, s of Matthew Hubbard and Sibella Ham inherited a track of land at Skimini and a tract of land "that is about Charles Edmonds". This is in York County Virginia. John Hubbard is listed in New Kent County in the Quit Rent Roll of 1704 as owner of 827 acres of land. New Kent was divided in 1691 into New Kent and King and Queen Counties. That part of King and Queen Co. was cut off in 1701 to form King William Co., which then lay between New Kent and King and Queen Counties. Almost all of the records have been lost. We find John Hubbard (Jr) and Samuel Hubbard listed in the Register of St. Peter's Parish, and Charles and Benjamin in other records. From these records this appears to be the family: John Hubbard, b ca 1653/54, m ca Elizabeth whose surname is unk. Issue: Charles Hubbard, John Hubbard, Samuel Hubbard, Benjamin Hubbard. Since there are no other Hubbards listed early in New Kent, King William and King and Queen Counties, we have to assume that John and Elizabeth were the parents of these four Hubbards.
