Fire Damages Miller Store
Fire early Friday evening in the apartments of Otto Miller, 129 East Second Street, did approximately $2,000 worth of damage and for a while threatened the Miller block, Second and Walnut street. JOHN LICA, tailor, who occupied one of the rooms was overcome with some and rescued by firemen. If it had not been for the prompt action of the fire department the building block would probably have been a total loss.
Mrs. Miller discovered the blaze about 5:30 p.m. It had originated in a closet on the second floor of the building and spread through a skylight into an attic. Mr. Lica, one of the tenants, was rescued thru and outside window by firemen. He had been overcome with smoke but his condition was not serious.Winona Republican-Herald, Sat., Feb. 1, 1919
