- Baptism record 12 June 1796, Lighthorne: "England, Warwickshire Parish Registers, 1535-1984," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VHXJ-QNW : accessed 21 February 2016), James Jobson in entry for John Jobson, 12 Jun 1796, Christening; citing Lighthorne, Warwickshire, England, Record Office, Warwick; FHL microfilm 549,948.' - 1820 British Settler: John Jobson 21, Labourer, together with his wife. Sarah Butler 20, were members of Parker's Party of Settlers on the East Indian. (See https://www.geni.com/projects/1820-Settlers-Parker-s-Party/10420 for more details about Parker's Party.) Departure Deptford, London, 27 Dec 1819; arrived Cork, Ireland 22 Jan 1820; departed Cork, 12 February 1820. Arrival Simon's Bay, Cape Town - 1 May 1820. Final Port Saldhana Bay. (NOTE: It says he was 21, but baptism record indicates June 1796, which would make him 23???.)
- John and Sarah were amongst those who obtained colonial passes to enable them to seek work in Cape Town, rather than settle at Clanwilliam (Westen Cape) or Albany (Eastern Cape), where many families from the same party settled.

- NOTE (1): He is almost certainly NOT the Jobson mentioned in some correspondence transcribed here from another 1820 Settler, Miles Bowker: http://www.eggsa.org/1820-settlers/index.php/pre-1820-letters/b-men... - as that Jobson lived in Northumberland and Bowker's party was from that area.
- NOTE (2): This Jobson family does not appear to be related to the John Baillie Jobson (b. 1836, Dundee) and his 3 sons, all born in Scotland, died Cape Colony and buried in Kimberley Gladstone Cemetery: https://billiongraves.com/search/results?family_names=jobson&year_r...
