About John Lanier, II

John Lanier, Jr. (son of John Lanier and Lucreece) was born in 1655 in England and brought to Virginia by his parent in 1656. He married in Charles City County in 1677, He lived all his life in what is now Prince George County and died in 1719. John's second wife, Sarah, died 5 Jan 1716 in Charles City, Charles County, VA.

John's Will was dated 05 Jan 1717 and was probated 14 Apr 1719 in Prince George County, VA. He names son Robert, son John, and son Sampson, giving them each a few shillings. To his daughter Sarah Brewer he leaves a cow or heifer of three years old, to his grandson John, “son of my son Nicholas Lanier”, he leaves a long list of various articles, a few of which were a gun, a chest, and rugs. To his son Nicholas he leaves the land on which he lives, all his land on the Otterdams, all his movables and immovables.”

John Lanier came to America as a baby. He grew up on the James River in Charles City, Virginia. He participated in Bacon's Rebellion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacon's_Rebellion)_ with his father in 1676. In 1683 he bought land with Peter Wycke in the parish of Westover.
