About John Larimore
John actually passed away in Circleville, Illinois which no longer exists. South Pekin is the closest location to Circleville.
John was the son of James and Susannah (Bonheim) Larimore. Around 1740 his father James immigrated with his brothers William and Hugh from the Province of Ulster, Ireland. John settled in Three Churches, Hampshire County, Virginia which became West Virginia when the Civil War began and Virginia withdrew from the Union. William settled in Pennsylvania and Hugh in North Carolina.
John and his siblings were born in Virginia (now West Virginia)before moving west. West Virginia did not become a state until 1863, after 50 northwestern counties of Virginia decided to break away from that Southern state in the Wheeling Conventions in 1861. Technically, he was born in Hampshire County,Virginia which is now in West Virginia.
It is said that Abraham Lincoln represented John in a case in Circleville Illinois.
